The English Language

“Its very variety, subtlety, and utterly irrational, idiomatic complexity makes it possible to say things in English which simply cannot be said in any other language.”
Robert A. Heinlein, Stranger in a Strange Land

Why is English not liked or preferred by many people? Why do people try to run away from the beautiful language? Why people fear giving the exam of a language where you just have to play with words?

The problem is that in most schools like the big ones or name brands, for the sake of teaching students a new language, they have transformed it into a subject. English is taken merely as a subject. The essence and the beauty of the language is lost.

It's horrifying to think that each child is judged on how many marks or grades he earns in an examination. This is just wrong. Every child will write the same answer or an essay on a given topic in different words and his / her imagination.

Children are expected to write in a way the teachers expect them to. This demolishes the creativity in the child. He looses his self self esteem and self confidence.

This in fact hold true for every other language out there. Be it Hindi or Telugu. No is concerned how much better a person actually is besides getting a B or a C in their report card.

Every child is special and every child is different. Everyone should have the freedom to think the way they want to. Our thoughts should not be murdered or suppressed by anyone's thinking.
